Risk is a natural part of any organisation’s operations. But that risk should be mapped and properly mitigated. Purple’s expert crisis communications team helps clients prepare by identifying risks which would impact successful communications, and then develops supporting communications strategies should the risk be realised.

Crisis response planning

We view risk through the lens of communications. Most issues or crises can be more successfully negotiated when the communications follow a problem are clear and well-articulated. Much of that work can be done before a crisis hits, through scenario mapping, communications templates generation and staff training.

The organisations which have responded best to crisis have planned for, and tested, their worst-case scenarios. Purple supports these initiatives through a variety of products and services including:

Digital Communications Issues Management

Our Situation Room training product is an experiential training scenario designed for communications and marketing teams wanting to experience the pressure of a communications crisis. Players are immersed in a crisis scenario which unfolds on multiple platforms, forcing them to act, respond, and manage a changing landscape of information and stakeholders.

Guided by experienced facilitators, Situation Room is a half-day training opportunity which prepares your team for what a communications crisis actually feels like, through exposure to traditional news journalists, disgruntled staff, the public, and social media users.

Learn from decades of combined issues and crisis communications experience as your team practices how to prepare for, respond to, and manage a crisis.

Media Training

Purple offers practical, engaging and tailored media training for senior executives and their support teams. The half-day session includes a customised course and presentation by our experienced trainers, scenario preparation and practical on-camera interviews and reviews. Purple has an in-house production studio, specially built to accommodate media training sessions. For added realism we use a camera operator to film the one-on-one interviews.

Media Monitoring and Intelligence

Purple’s IntelEcho service includes comprehensive media monitoring, analysis and reporting. It is a market-leading service that has been developed following considerable research and product benchmarking and covers online, print (Aus/NZ), broadcast and social media channels, including key paywalled and protected sites.

The report gives you advance warning of issues or crisis by tracking sentiment and mentions across all the main social, digital and traditional media outlets.

Purple also designs and runs other experiential training courses relevant to specific sectors which can test your communications processes and capability for things like a mine-site death, significant reputation damage, or litigation.
