A skilled communicator and strategist, Peta has more than 20 years’ experience in investor relations and has worked in-house for Mount Isa Mines, Alcoa and most recently AngloGold Ashanti. As Queensland State Director, Peta supports the growth of Cannings Purple’s existing clients in Queensland and leads the consultancy’s Brisbane office.

Her experience in large M&A deals includes AngloGold’s company-changing merger with Ashanti and she has also worked on joint ventures with companies such as Randgold, and on joint investor projects with Barrick, Harmony, Goldfields and Newmont. Peta was responsible for AngloGold’s award-winning website, which was voted best investor relations website for three straight years by IR magazine.

Peta has well-developed insights into the wider Queensland market and also strong knowledge of government process and policy and credentials in crisis communications planning. Prior to joining Cannings Purple, she was part of the Biosecurity Queensland team responsible for the full planning and execution of the biggest biosecurity emergency preparedness exercise undertaken in Australia in the past 10 years.

With experience working at two Olympic Games, Peta has an MBA and a strong commitment to community engagement and development. She worked with Nelson Mandela’s private charity on an award-winning project to increase literacy in remote areas of South Africa.

Peta has lived in four countries, is a mother of five, is passionate about tennis and swimming and has running a marathon on her bucket list. She loves travelling and has started working many times on a “best-selling novel” that she often warns family and friends they may feature in.
